@  Coyote : (29 April 2016 - 10:03 AM) Cooldowns are all client side, so people are hacking it to spam skills wit packet injecting. It's an issue in PVP in BDO. Not surprising since Korea requires you to use your citizen ID to access the internet and thus if you get banned, it's forever. Unlike here where you just buy another copy.

@  Nobody : (29 April 2016 - 09:43 AM) and when the bdo servers go to crap, they really get bad. like yesterday I could click on a potion and nothing would happen other than the timer (which is apparently client side) would go off, the number of potions would remain constant, and no healing would be done.

I guess I'll play something else for a while. So bogus though because they did maintenance and the servers were not remotely fixed by it.

@  deekayzero : (29 April 2016 - 07:37 AM) there was group story telling in the 60s, and there was various board games and such that tried to gamify/make the story telling more equitable, and then dnd was the first system that worked really well. and there was also kind of similarish table top war gaming to a degree which warhammer is heavily derived from rules/game style wise

@  deekayzero : (29 April 2016 - 07:24 AM) well the funny thing with korean mmo pvp is - their player approach it in such a completely differetn way than western players do, which there's some nuances between european and north american players' treatment of those things but alot more similar to each other than how different asian audiences approach it

@  deekayzero : (29 April 2016 - 07:22 AM) which as someone who's been playing korean mmo's since earlyish lineage 2, and being aware of lineage 1 to an extent, and playing quite a few korean games between l2 and aion, there's a reall sense of progression in design where they all kind of derive from those roots and evolve on the design cliches, many adding a little piece here or there while retaining most of the previous games' iterations on the formula.

@  deekayzero : (29 April 2016 - 07:12 AM) city builders are definitely sims in the classic 80s/90s sense but in the aughts the level of realism in sims reached new heights that was pretty rare back then so idk that they are really sims in anything but name now. about on the same level as 4x strategy games like civ imo at this point, for many years now
