@  Divinelysian : (24 April 2018 - 02:48 PM) i didn't even see any post about 420
@  Divinelysian : (24 April 2018 - 02:48 PM) Been spending too much time irl
@  deekayzero : (20 April 2018 - 06:32 AM) happy 420 yall! :D
@  deekayzero : (20 April 2018 - 06:32 AM) ----------------------------------------------
@  deekayzero : (17 April 2018 - 06:36 AM) lol
@  AionTemplar : (16 April 2018 - 11:05 AM) Any news on Aion?
@  deekayzero : (14 April 2018 - 07:50 AM) https://youtu.be/2-hFrEecThs dos2 has a cool arena mode for pvp that really feels surprisingly like playing chess. was really surprised by that. you usually expect rpg pvp to be a cluster fuck especially as it goes harder to the RPG side of things away from twitch gameplay.
@  deekayzero : (06 April 2018 - 07:37 AM) even tho they're a couple levels lower than us now they still give really fat exp and we leveled up like at least once so far doing this with still some action to go in the zone LOL
@  deekayzero : (06 April 2018 - 07:36 AM) we got to a fight in DOS2 where we were severely out gunned and somewhat out leveled so last night we went back to teh newbie island to slaughter all the "prison guard" npc's that are automatically hostile to us for exp.
@  Nobody : (04 April 2018 - 02:42 PM) ouchies
@  deekayzero : (04 April 2018 - 08:53 AM) fought a kraken in sea of thieves last night. seems people have caught on to lag hax in the game or at least the game is match making people in NA with SA for some reason and it causes lag that gives the SA people a big advantage in pvp.
@  Nobody : (03 April 2018 - 06:31 PM) nice price point then
@  deekayzero : (03 April 2018 - 10:04 AM) cheaper than logo'ed shirts from walmart too even after shipping. :D
@  deekayzero : (03 April 2018 - 10:03 AM) i ordered and recieved shirts with pics of my face and shane nelson's face on them this weekend. the future is now.
@  deekayzero : (30 March 2018 - 05:51 PM) that's the star wars ai hat thing looks pretty cool
@  Nobody : (30 March 2018 - 02:11 PM) i admit to not being particularly into ddr rhythm type things, but dual light sabers just look fun. I like mah swords
@  Nobody : (30 March 2018 - 02:10 PM) want:youtube.com/watch?v=gV1sw4lfwFw
@  Nobody : (30 March 2018 - 11:54 AM) i admit I've just personally given up on mmo's overall... didn't take to the f2p thing at all
@  deekayzero : (29 March 2018 - 10:45 AM) http://massivelyop.c...o-monetization/ this is interesting nad topical and personally relevant :O
@  deekayzero : (29 March 2018 - 07:32 AM) problemwith blockchain in teh real world tho is it's incredibly slow compared to any other kidn of transaction/accounting systems we already use irl. which is why the crypto bubble bursting fully is going to be a clsuter fuck with a lot of very public qq from investors.
@  deekayzero : (29 March 2018 - 07:31 AM) and basically these people get paid a transaction fee for every transaction their farm processes in the blockchain, which is sort of like a decentralized accounting system that tracks transactions
@  deekayzero : (29 March 2018 - 07:31 AM) ye blockchain is in the document that crypto was in originally. people gold rushed on crypto without paying much attention to teh blockchain part for a long time, but now the people that stand to profit from blockchain (who are currently profitting from it due to cryptominers needing to use it) want to get it widely adopted in real world applications so they can profit off it in a way that doesn't involve the funny money that is crypto.
@  Nobody : (28 March 2018 - 04:05 PM) pretty much all related to blockchain stuff
@  Nobody : (28 March 2018 - 04:05 PM) well, there were these companies at gdc that had no relation and no pitch for a relation with games...
@  deekayzero : (28 March 2018 - 04:03 PM) well more the crypto people but they benefit from blockchain and have been pushing it alot lately so they stay relevant (and start making real money).
@  Nobody : (28 March 2018 - 04:00 PM) but the stupid blockchain folks are the ones making it impossible to buy newer gpu's at reasonable prices
@  Nobody : (28 March 2018 - 04:00 PM) because nobody doing games cares about that at all as far as we can tell
@  Nobody : (28 March 2018 - 03:59 PM) I feel your pain dk - btw, had an interesting convo with another games person today who thinks blockchain stuff was so hot at GDC because all the gpu manufacturers were there and talking about future gpu's
@  deekayzero : (28 March 2018 - 08:32 AM) but one thing is for sure: making a video or comment about how shitty the game is in every way even if those comments or videos don't really reflect the reality of the game at all is good internet points and more importantly good cash money profit.
@  deekayzero : (28 March 2018 - 08:31 AM) and ultimately all of that shit drowns out the legitimate criticisms and feedback for improvements that the game really could use.
@  deekayzero : (28 March 2018 - 08:31 AM) i'm not sure what these people thought the game was going to be but they all seem to completely ignore any marketting for the game or how it actually plays.
@  deekayzero : (28 March 2018 - 08:30 AM) sea of thieves is the latest memetic QQ fest train game. all the youtubers and reddits and bloggers getting in on the action.
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 11:06 AM) with all the shaders and such in use now in games
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 11:06 AM) i have no idea how it's changed on the art side, but I bet it changed on that side too since serious art gets pretty technical for higher end games as well
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 11:05 AM) luckily, there are still the few gems by folks at places like insomniac or naughty dog in terms of real tech talks
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 11:05 AM) lots and lots more talks about game design, likely because they attract lots of non-professional people
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 11:04 AM) and it used to be a lot of serious programming talks, but now it's mostly down to "sponsored sessions" for tech (which means it's a lot of marketing done instead of serious tech)
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 11:04 AM) like when I first started going it was pretty much all devs and not many marketing folks... I miss that a bit
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 11:03 AM) in some ways the broader attention is good because it's more people, but in other ways it kinda sucks
@  deekayzero : (25 March 2018 - 10:30 AM) GDC has gotten wider attention in recent years from game consumers, which is ironic because as you point out the trend is gaming technology being used in non gaming tasks. lol
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 09:11 AM) well, most people aren't that interested in the dev parts - they want to play. like there were groups of twitch streamers definitely wandering around this gdc which you didn't used to see
@  deekayzero : (25 March 2018 - 07:46 AM) apparently a bunch of KS indie mmo devs are at GDC treating it like a typical gaming/comic/anime con instead of a developre con and it'sa bit awkward. or maybe it's just how massively is talking to them/approaching it that it comes off that way.
@  deekayzero : (25 March 2018 - 07:45 AM) when i was describing what i was doing sundial thought i was talking about fairly typical music production automation stuff which would probably be what you mean there, which is also super cool but more involved from teh producer's end than what i was doing. but certainly i've had a few examples of that sort of thing linked to me as a result of this latest project lol
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 06:38 AM) did you know there are algo-raves?
@  Nobody : (25 March 2018 - 06:37 AM) yeah, creative stuff with using tech can be loads of fun
@  deekayzero : (24 March 2018 - 01:21 PM) it's honestly super silly but it's still fun and i like the songs it makes so...
@  deekayzero : (24 March 2018 - 01:21 PM) i am making an ai generated album right now. tho the samples/loops it uses i think were made by actual people XD
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:41 AM) and then ubisoft recently is using it to try and recognize how errors are made across theiir code base over time
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:40 AM) because an art style is a pattern too
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:39 AM) alex is a good guy and used it quite a while ago to recognize and transform art styles
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:37 AM) because it's just non-linear pattern recognition. so things like cheating are definitely patterns across data
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:36 AM) even if you don't get the math, the talk has a lot about the kinds of problems deep learning is good for
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:35 AM) of course now, there are a lot more free things you can use for it and different options, but that's kind of the basics
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:35 AM) do you ever watch the GDC vault stuff dk? Usually after a length of time talks go free to watch up on the vault. you can get a good intro to deep learning here and games from a few years ago here - http://gdcvault.com/...e-Learning-from
@  Nobody : (24 March 2018 - 06:33 AM) the deep learning stuff I might... I've got a suspicion that at least some of it is doable by regular neural nets, which makes it easy for folks without a lot of money to do
@  deekayzero : (23 March 2018 - 11:07 PM) some good shit snoozle. you should do some old school style writeups on each thing. honestly i find it fascinating.
@  Nobody : (23 March 2018 - 07:41 AM) and sure enough deep learning has been used to find cheaters in CS
@  Nobody : (23 March 2018 - 07:41 AM) maybe part of that was the truck driving around the convention center that said blockchain tho lol
@  Nobody : (23 March 2018 - 07:40 AM) general trends this gdc - deep learning works on everything and I keep hearing the word "blockchain" everytime I turn around lol
@  Nobody : (23 March 2018 - 07:38 AM) i guess an embodied experience
